The Wellness Thread is a gut-health education website created by Demaris Newberry. It includes articles, books, cookbooks, free resources, and educational material about diverticulitis, digestive conditions, food, fiber, IBS, Crohn’s disease, the gut-brain connection, and everyday digestive health.
No. The Wellness Thread provides educational and general wellness information. It does not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe treatment, or replace individualized medical care from a qualified healthcare professional.
Start with the Resource Center. It organizes the website by what you are dealing with now, such as a diverticulitis flare, recovery, food and fiber questions, IBS, recipes, books, or free resources.
If you are experiencing new, severe, worsening, or concerning abdominal symptoms, contact an appropriate healthcare professional.
The Wellness Thread can help you understand diverticulitis and recovery, but it cannot determine whether you are having a flare or whether a complication is present.
Some people are temporarily advised to reduce fiber during certain stages of illness or recovery, but the right approach depends on your medical situation and the instructions you were given.
A temporary low-fiber plan is not automatically the same thing as a long-term eating plan.
That timing can vary. Fiber progression should fit your symptoms, stage of recovery, medical history, and the guidance you were given by your healthcare professional.
Some people report pain or discomfort that seems to extend beyond the abdomen, but location alone cannot determine the cause of pain.
New, severe, worsening, or unusual pain should be medically evaluated rather than assumed to be diverticulitis.
Severe or worsening abdominal pain, significant rectal bleeding, persistent vomiting, inability to keep fluids down, high or persistent fever, fainting, marked weakness, signs of dehydration, or a rigid or swollen abdomen deserve prompt medical evaluation.
